Which men are drawn to male plastic surgery? You may be surprised
There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding plastic surgery. For one thing, many people assume that procedures like Brazilian butt lifts and breast augmentation are related to vanity. In reality, though, these procedures simply empower men and women to feel like their best selves. In addition, it’s widely assumed that cosmetic enhancements are for women. As we’ve noted in previous posts, men are slowly accounting for a greater percentage of surgical procedures from year to year.
Recently the news outlet Business Insider spoke to plastic surgeons about the rise of male plastic surgery and what patterns they have noticed among the men who visit their clinics. While every patient has his or her unique reasons for going under the knife, Dr. Douglas Steinbrech, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Manhattan, noted that his male clientele often fell into four categories: The active dads, the business men, the models and the body builders.
Active dads has typically packed on a few pounds over the years and are looking for ways to regain your youthful physique and good looks. This can take the form liposuction, facial contouring procedures and other treatments. Business men, meanwhile, tend to be high-powered professionals who want to look more authoritative and virile. In these cases, eyelid surgery and other anti-aging procedures can reduce signs of weariness and result in a more alert appearance.
Models and body builders, for their part, are eager to enhance their assets with implants and targeted body contouring, Dr. Steinbrech explained.
Currently, men account for 10 percent of cosmetic procedures, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. If you are considering a nip and tuck in Miami, contact Dr. Christopher Craft today to learn more.
