The most popular plastic surgery procedures of last year
Earlier this year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons released their annual report on the state of their industry in the United States. While they will not have final numbers available for 2014 until sometime early next year, the final figures from 2013 offer a look into what trends likely continued into this year. There was good news across the board for those working in the cosmetic surgery industry.
According to the report, there were 15.1 million plastic surgeries performed in the United States in 2013, up a full 3 percent from 2012. In addition to the sheer number of people who went under the knife, the organization was also able to produce concrete numbers on what the most popular surgeries were. The list was not too surprising, as the top five cosmetic procedures that were listed are ones that most people would expect to be common.
Topping the chart was breast augmentation, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery, liposuction and facelifts. Most of the procedures completed are those that are linked directly to the appearance of the face. The surgeries that are gaining the most popularity and saw the most growth in 2013 were butt augmentation and neck lifts. Those are seen as two trends that will continue to be popular and be a bigger part of the chart when the final 2014 numbers are tallied.
