A South Florida woman learned the hard way that getting cosmetic injections on the black market can cost far more in the long run and cause irreparable physical damage. In a new report from local Miami ABC News affiliate WPLG, Rajindra Narinesinch shares how she turned to illegal injections to make her face more youthful looking. But the substance injected into her face was not administered by a medical professional and was not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Instead, she told WPLG, it was commercial-grade silicon mixed with mineral oil. The injections led to unsightly lumps and bumps on her face that cannot be removed and could ultimately kill her. 

“What gives me solace is the fact that I have been able to use my story to educate people about this sort of thing,” Narinesinch told WPLG. “So that it doesn’t happen to anybody else.” 

She is not the only one who has fallen victim to unlicensed people pushing cheap injections. In 2012, ABC News reported that a woman in Mississippi died after she had illegal silicone injections in her buttocks. According to the Associated Press (AP), victims have also died in Alabama, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, New York and right here in Florida. A California woman reportedly had to have both hands and feet amputated after she was injected with an industrial silicone available at hardware stores.
