Plastic surgery is on the rise among Hispanics, says ASPS
As more celebrities come forward about their cosmetic surgeries, it’s clear that the attitudes about these enhancements have changed dramatically across the country. The number of plastic surgery procedures performed in the United States has been rising from year to year, and a look at the demographics has shown that Latinos and Latinas may be the most eager to indulge in a few nips and tucks.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the tummy tucks, Brazilian butt implants and Mommy makeovers performed for Hispanic patients has increased by 18 percent between 2011 and 2012, indicating both a boost in expendable income and an growing comfort with the idea of getting work done.
Houston-based plastic surgeon Dr. Rolando Morales commented on this trend in a recent press release. “I have noticed an increase in the number of Hispanics that come in for plastic surgery […] Many of them are looking for minor changes, such as lip augmentation,” he explained.
Though nonsurgical procedures like Botox injections and dermal fillers seem to be the most popular in Dr. Morales’ clinic, there is no end to the enhancements offered by plastic surgeons in Miami.
